Our on site Swagher Ambassador, April Byrd, was able to get an exclusive interview with the author during the event.
April: What motivated you to write this book?
Cherrie McRae: One thing that motivated me to write the book is that I know in my own personal life, I was lacking. I was lacking positivity, I was lacking things that kinda made sense or came full circle for me, and I had a burning desire to be able to help others, but I didn’t know how. So when I continued to research, and as I continued to realize who I was on the inside, I started to realize this book could possibly catapult to something way bigger than myself, and that I could help people who continually came to me for mentorship, asking me all kinds of questions about what they should do about their situation. I felt that this particular book is timely, and in a world where society will tell you “you’re not good enough” I wanted to be the voice to tell people that “you’re more than enough”.
April: How do you see the book making a great impact?
McRae: Well for one it’s an audiobook, and I feel that in our society, we’re everywhere . . .we have meetings to go to, we have kids to take care of, we have spouses to take care of, we have travel arrangements, we have social lives, we have so much noise going on in our lives. How beneficial would it be to be able to listen to something and allow it to register- allow it to fester in your spirit, in your mind. How our minds are designed is that, what we constantly hear, we become, and so I wanted to put something out there where you’re constantly hearing it, and even though it may be something you already heard, the way that I’m able to extend the message is something far different from maybe my fellow motivational speakers, coaches, or consultants were able to deliver that to you. My goal is to give you me, because there is no one with my DNA, and I guarantee once you hear the book, hear the product -it’s definitely gonna be something where you’re like “Wow, I never really quite thought about it like that.”
Swagher: Is there a main or key thing that you would want somebody to take away from the book?
McRae: I’m really good with visualizations, and I’m really good with stories, and I’m really good with metaphors, so the one thing I want my audience to take away from it is, instead of just hearing or reading a text, I want you to be able to hear the passion in my voice, understand that you have a purpose, also understand that just because you’ve heard it before, doesn’t mean that it was enough to trigger you to do a thing. And so with MY words, my words are guaranteed to resonate with you, because I speak with passion. It’s something that I’m truly convinced of and I know it to be positive, and I know it to be right, and I know it to be life changing. I can guarantee you definitely that if it changes nothing else, it’ll change your mindset.
