The mission statement of SwagHer Magazine is “Let us embrace this journey known as womanhood together lifting and embracing each other as a whole.” From beginning to end, the 4th Annual Girls Wine Out event did exactly that!
The Girls Wine Out event was a fantastic time had by all. It was hosted by comedienne Kiana Dancie, the co-host of TV-One’s new live talk show, “Sister Circle”. Not only did Kiana keep the audience laughing and entertained, she motivated the crowd with her real-life stories from struggle to success. The trailblazing speakers of the event were Brandi Mallory of ‘Dance Your Pounds Off’, certified divorce coach, Dr. Sonja Stribling, business scalability expert T. Renee Smith who spoke on the characteristics of being F.I.E.R.C.E, and MsNickeeMack, a seasoned makeup artist, professional model, runway coach and motivational speaker with a 6 page bio of 10+ years of experience and an “international ringtone” for her overseas clients.
The highlight of the Girls Wine Out event, after indulging in a gourmet lunch with sparkling red wine, was the keynote speaker, actress and founder of the Take Wings Foundation non-profit organization, Terri J. Vaughn. Vaughn is best known for her roles in “The Steve Harvey Show”, “All of Us”, and “Tyler Perry’s ‘Meet the Browns”. Terri defines her swag as being a “fun, sunflower that encourages women to find that fun and beauty within themselves”. In her speech, she gave insight on her journey to acting and how she aspired to be a “boss lady” even in her challenging environment. Her non-profit organization is based out of the San Francisco Bay area and her mission is to take at risk youth and lead them to more positive options for their lives. The main theme of Terri’s speech was to believe only the great things about yourself and block out everyone else’s negativity. Trust yourself and your gifts and abilities to go to each level of your life strong and confident.
Tekeya Priester, the creator of the event and the founder of Not Just a Getaway, LLC, defines her swag as being a ‘people person that loves to draw like minded people together with a warm smile and a positive atmosphere. Her goal is to help motivate women to live their lives without guilt or restraint. She wants all women to be accountable for each other when it comes to self-care and finding the best harmony within themselves. Through her company, Not Just a Getaway, Tekeya Priester has organized monthly and annual trips to Jamaica and Dubai, and she plans on organizing trips to Cuba for December and Thailand in March 2018. She loves that with her friends and family team support she can give women the ability to see the world and come together locally for fellowship and great times.
After interviewing Priester, I was informed that this event was such a success that the Chateau Elan is already planning for next year’s event in October 2018! Raise your wine glass and let’s say ‘Cheers!’ to women empowerment!
