Attending events can be a business investment for your professional growth when you attend the right ones. I know Hurricane Harvey is this weekend, but if you can get out and attend some events this weekend, may I suggest you catch one of the following if not both? I’ll be speaking at both!

Elevate Academy: The Blueprint

The first event is Elevate Academy: The Blueprint. Starting at 10 am at the Bluebonnet Branch Library, this event will consist of series of workshops, Entrepreneurship 101; Business Basics; Finances/Wealth; and Branding/Media. Adraine Conrad, master trainer of A. Conrad Fitness is the event hostess. Nadia Francois, founder and director of Sistars of Empowerment, is the co-host. Other speakers include Shannon Barnes, Sherie Thomas, and Tyra Sterling. I’ll be teaching a branding workshop, focused on branding for beginners.

  • What is Branding
  • What Message Are You Conveying with Your Brand
  • Tips for Personal Branding

I have done quite a few events with Nadia over the past 5 years, and several with Adraine as well as taken her fitness boot camp, and I always make a connection with someone within their circles.  RSVP at www.sistarsofempowerment.org TODAY (it’s free), because the event is TOMORROW!

Follow online at @adraine_conrad and @sistarsofempowerment_2013 to learn a little more about the event organizers.

1st Annual Small Business Social & Market

The second event I am speaking is GlamourHouse1302’s 1st Annual Small Business Social & Market. Glamourhouse1302 is an online boutique owned by Monica Williams. They’ve advertised in the magazine before as well.

Since this is a social and market, I will be speaking on unity among African-American business owners and ways we can work together better. This is a new topic for me, but I am excited to speak on it because I think it needs to be addressed. I believe we can go further as a society and Black community, if we quit all this “crabs in the bucket” foolishness. Other speakers include Rhonda Lawson and Felicia Young.

This event is free also and open to the public, so no RSVP required. It will be at the Main Library on Goodwood starting at 2pm.

Personally, and this is just me saying, invite your homeboy who works at the plant and don’t know what to do with his money. He needs to be present for my speech.

Follow online  and learn more about the organizer at @glamourhouse1302.

I know we have some serious weather warnings for this weekend, so I do understand if you can’t make it out, but if you can, I hope to see you at one or the other.  Be safe!
