You know who is really behind every successful woman- herself! According to the National Association of Women Business Owners more than 9.4 million firms are owned by women, employing nearly 7.9 million people, and generating $1.5 trillion in sales as of 2015. Yet women business owners don’t always have the same support system as their male counterparts.

On Sunday, August 6, 2017, SwagHer Magazine was the media sponsor for the Women Mean Business Expo presented by Opulent Productions, LLC, at the Algiers Auditorium in New Orleans. The day was filled with inspirational speeches; each speaker sharing their stories of how they have overcame in business. Keynote speaker author Wendy Magee, Director of Operations for CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates for Children) Jefferson Parish, shared how she felt called to write her book inspite of what others may thought or said. Best-selling author of “How to Become a Publicity Magnet In Any Market via TV, Radio, & Print”, Havillah Malone, recanted her experience of casting for AMC which led to a major breakthrough in her career, while SwagHer’s publisher and editor in chief, Francheska “Fancy” Felder discussed how to write your own fairytale ending in business. Kellie Montoya Brown, a reporter for WDSU (NBC) New Orleans was the emcee.

Favorite Vendor Display

We must highlight this table display by Tribal Quest. Aren’t these dolls the cutest? The dresses are handmade by the ladies as well.

Farthest traveling vendor:

Beauty By Bash CA

Yep, Beauty By Bash traveled from San Francisco, California to attend the event and offer her all natural bath and body products. I thought that was pretty cool. Look at Opulent Productions even bringing new vendors to the Big Easy.
