Check out our Q&A on his new single, “You Deserve the Love”.
DJ: What inspired you to write your song, “You Deserve the Love”?
FFFL: Everyday life inspired this song, my peers, people I personally know, mothers-especially single mothers who are struggling on the day to day to raise children. I’m not just talking about financially, just in general- hustling and bustling to get their kids to school, working full time jobs, and going to school themselves. A lot of women are doing this without a support system. I wanted to create a record just for them to let them know that folks care and that their efforts aren’t going unnoticed. This record is a kiss on the cheek and a hug for all the moms across the world.
DJ: Is the song on an upcoming project?
FFFL: Yes, this song is the first single off my upcoming EP titled “That Time I Fell in Love with Your Baby Mother”.
DJ: Who are your musical influences?
FFFL: My influences are rather vast musically. I guess it really just depends on my mood. To name a few though, I would definitely have to say Prince, Slick Rick, Tupac, Curtis Mayfield, Brandy and producers Quincy Jones & Timbaland.
DJ: Are you doing anything outside of music?
FFFL: Outside of music, my number one job is being a father. In addition to being an artist though, I’m also a song-writer and producer so I’m often working on projects outside of my own. I also have a lifestyle brand called FAT is Life. FAT is an acronym for Feeling Absolutely Terrific! It’s all about not taking your blessings for granted and celebrating life every day. I have some cool FAT is Life tees people can check out at www.instagram.com/fatflylifestyle
DJ: Are you involved in any community projects?
FFFL: I’m currently in the process of relaunching a program I started a few years ago ironically called “The You Deserve the Love Project”. I did story-time and played games at a local day care program that catered to the children of single moms in the Brooklyn, NY area. We also raised money and donated clothes to these same families. In addition, I’m really considering making a “You Deserve The Love” documentary. Definitely stay tuned.. some great things are in the works for sure.
