Remember Pam, who made the comment about First Lady Michelle Obama looking like an ape in heels on her Facebook page? Yes, the same Pamela Ramsey Taylor who was the director of the Clay County Development Corporation in West Virginia that was allegedly removed from her position last month due to the online petition created after her remark (read here). Well now per a statement released by the acting director of Clay County Development Corporation, Pam will be returning to work next Friday, December 23rd. Apparently she was not terminated, but “suspended”.

The Clay County Development Corporation is a nonprofit that provides senior services and financial assistance to elderly and low-income residents of the county. Taylor who been employed there since 1989 had been removed twice briefly from the company before becoming director. She has also been sued twice for wrongful termination of previous CCDC employees. Further digging also revealed, that the executive director for CCDC is also required to have at minimum, a Bachelor’s degree and 10 years of experience, but Clay has said in court before that she did not attend college.

When Taylor’s remark began garnering national attention, Robert Roswall, West Virginia’s bureau commissioner warned the organization that any discrimination among the staff could jeopardize their state and federal funding. Clay County is 76% Republican, and 23.7% of its residents live below the poverty line. In 2014, Ramsey was paid almost $83,000 in comparison to the average $40,000 made within a family in Clay County. We wonder why is Taylor of such significance to the CCDC?
