This week is starting off great for Jennifer Hudson. Sunday she brought down the house with her rendition of Prince’s Purple Rain, and today she signed a deal with Epic Records.
She released the photo above on her Instagram and then shared a Billboard article of the announcement.
In the Billboard articles, L. A. Reid says, “Jennifer Hudson is the defining voice of this generation. Her award-winning presence on records, in film, and on stage establishes her as one of the premiere artists to emerge in this century.” He went on to say, “I’m enjoying collaborating with my friend and mentor Clive Davis on Jennifer’s first Epic album and excited for her fans to hear what we’re up to… all will be revealed soon!”
This is also monumental because Reid and Davis will be collaborating in almost 25 years. Their last project together was Whitney Houston’s 1992 “The Bodyguard”.
Hudson’s last three projects have been with Arista/J Records and RCA.
