Transformation Tuesday Story: Omega AUNTIE Mothersill On How a Life Coach and a Different Mindset Changed Her Life

I was once asked to talk about something I was able to overcome….

Growing up was difficult yet easy…you see by the time my mom was 23, she had 6 children. She was often told she would never amount to anything and neither would her children. We were called black and ugly and treated indifferent. As a child, it’s easy to internalize those things, however, my mother always believed in herself and her children. She often told us we were beautiful and smart. I wondered should I listen to the masses or the one who loves me unconditionally.

With my first job came the ability to work tiressely on my image. I had a true love for fashion and all things glamorous. I associated those things with beauty and acceptance. I began dressing differently and people started noticing. The backdrop of my life began to change. I soon found an outlet. I became involved in direct sales and network marketing. This is where I really started investing in me. Wanting to be in the in set, started to consume me. I was drowning in debt with a lack of focus and purpose.
I knew I needed a change. I knew I could not continue in a downward spiral. I heard people talking about life coach this and life coach that, so I started working with a coach and this re-purposed me. I found way and myself with the help of my coach. I began reading self-help books, I joined a mastermind group and started attending seminars and conferences. I started internalizing the Word of God and allowed it to become my source. I no longer was concerned with who thought what of me. I found my beauty in my ability to be at perfect peace with myself, who I was, and with whom I was becoming.

I became so resolved in my thoughts and feelings that I entered a beauty pageant. With no hang ups or insecurities, I won. I won the Supreme Title, that’s the highest points scored in the pageant. Winning the State title allows me to compete in the National Plus America Pageant. I challenge anyone that has ever been made to feel inferior or unworthy, to invest in your mental and emotional health. Surround yourself with people who see greatness in you and who don’t mind telling you how great you are. Believe in yourself and your abilities and more importantly find inner peace.
