Atlanta,GA- SwagHer Magazine and The Purple Girl radio show have combined forces to use their media platforms to educate and inspire other women with their Let’ Be Real: An Authentic Experience For Women event.
The event is to be an intimate, interactive discussion with ladies from various professions sharing their experiences on balancing business and life and many of the obstacles of being a woman in business. Panelists are to include celebrity makeup designer Nikki Allure; celeb hairstylist Lamecia King; celeb wardrobe stylist Cashe Royal, and CEO/ lead publicist of the The PR Mentality Lindsey Walker, along with the two media outlets owners as organizers (The Purple Girl Show hostess, Que Johnson and SwagHer Magazine publisher Francheska “Fancy” Felder).
“Initially Que and I were discussing the topic of women empowerment and how we feel like women still have such a long ways to go and that the word empowered is over used. My take on things was, we as women face so many issues and challenges. So many of us wish to paint the picture of success being overnite or everything coming easy. I encourage women to share their experiences so other women can learn from them- let’s be real, yet there is so much division amongst us,” Fancy says. “I want this to be an experience where the women really feel like they are leaving with something.”
SwagHer Magazine is an empowerment publication for women and men of color, with a hip hop theme that promotes positive news along with some entertainment,. both online and in print. The magazine was founded by Fancy in 2010 in Baton Rouge, LA and then relocated to Atlanta in 2014. Whereas The Purple Girl Show is signed with Know 1 Radio, which is the hottest online radio station in Chicago with an audience now of over over 50,000 listeners internationally. Que founded the radio show in 2012.
“For me, it’s all about the mindset. All the women included on the panel work closely with other women and business. We’re not just planning to discuss the business aspect of things, but we are going deeper than that, for example Lamecia styles hair for a living but what’s going on under those perfectly sewn in extensions?Those are some of the things we will be addressing,” Que explained. “Those are some the things we plan to address.”
The event is to take place June 19, 2016 at Paragon 7 Studios, which does happen to be Father’s Day, but again, let’s be real, how many businesswomen are also playing the role of daddy as well. The partners say in spite of the date, guests are anticipating the event. Over 50 women have already gotten tickets and about 20% of those did so prior to the event having a confirmed location.
