Joy Reid will be returning to MSNBC in the time slots of former anchor Melissa Harris Perry, who parted ways with the network earlier this year, according to Variety.
Reid’s new show will air between 10 am and noon and will premiere next week on May 7th. Reid will rotate out guest journalists while tackling important events and topics of the week.
In a statement Reid said, “Saturday and Sunday mornings will be a place to talk politics and do good journalism while bringing diverse, smart, and accomplished voices to the table.”
Between 2014 and 2015, Reid hosted another show, The Reid Report, on the network Monday through Friday, but it was cancelled when the network decided to go in a different direction with programming.
MSNBC President Phil Griffin says, he believes “no one is better equipped” to lead the new project.
