Taraji P. Henson, Janelle Monae, and Octavia Spencer are set to star in the upcoming movie, Hidden Figures, which is based on the upcoming book by Margot Lee Shetterly titled Hidden Figures: The Story of the African-American Women Who Helped Win the Space Race.
The women will be portraying the story of the three African American mathematicians that participated in NASA’s Friendship 7 mission in 1962.
According to Variety, Henson is to play Katherine Johnson, while Spencer plays Mary Jackson, Monae who recently added will play Dorothy Vaughn. The three original characters assisted with sending John Glenn (sources say to be played by Kevin Costner), the first American astronaut to orbit the earth.
While the book itself is to be released in September, the film is to be released Martin Luther King, Jr. weekend of 2017.
