The 5th Annual RICE Awards


The Rising in Community Excellence Awards (RICE Awards) released the official nominee list for the 2015 season. The RICE Awards was created five years ago by C. Chandon Carter; Philanthropist, Entrepreneur, Certified Relationship Expert, and Media Personality. In 2011, Carter created The Rising Star Award, which was given out annually at The Gospel Choice Awards of Atlanta. In 2013 Carter to created his award show as a stand alone celebration.The Atlanta RICE Awards will take place on September 17, 2015 in the Spring Hall at Global Forum, and tickets can be purchased at

This award, now known as The RICE Awards is a celebration of those individuals who work tirelessly to improve lives throughout greater Atlanta.RICE Award nominees are innovative and charitable visionaries who recognize the importance of their presence and contribution to the greater Atlanta community and beyond. Nominees were selected by a panel of industry professionals, community leaders and everyday citizens. Each category is about a community leader who has used their position to develop or implement programs that have changed the face of our communities and helped people in innumerable ways. The Carter Unlimited mission for The RICE Awards is simple. “We honor the unsung heroes of our community.”

The 2015 NOMINEE Categories will include the following: Beauty & Fashion, Entertainment, Non-Profit, Civil Servant, Business, Media, Music & The Arts, Health & Wellness, The Founders Rising Star Award, and Education. The Honorees are shown their passion and concern for the community in the following areas: The TORCH Award, The Youth Achievement Award, The Leadership Award, The Lifetime Achievement Award, and The Milestone Award. There will be special performances by award-winning gospel artist Micah Stampley, Season 7 of NBC’s The Voice, Beth Spangler, Universal Recording Artist MYKO, Recording Artist Jon Mero, and Master Violinist Angelic.
Lastly, presenters will include Comedian Rodney Perry, Christina Johnson of VH1’s Atlanta Exes, Olympian and World Champion Hazel Clark, Pastor Kimberly Jones Pothier of Oxygen’s Preachers of Atlanta, Atty. Mawuli Davis, Robin Dyke of Bravo’s Mother Funders.
