Shonn Hinton has made quite the name for himself as a heavily recruited guitarist and producer. He’s toured with the likes of Mary J. Blige, John Legend and several others. In 2012, Hinton featured on the popular soundtrack for Think Like a Man, as lead guitarist for John Legend’s hit single, “Tonight.” As a producer, you can also hear him on Kenny Lattimore’s latest single, Love Me Back and as guitarist on Jill Scott’s new album, “Woman.” In fact, Hinton’s musicianship moved Jill Scott to mention him to her host of Twitter followers.
Hinton’s work has been featured on several Grammy-nominated projects. But with all of his experience and notoriety, his passion for the music extends much deeper. He wants to create a revolutionary sound experience for blues lovers. Thus, he formed Shonn Hinton & Shotgun, the powerhouse blues band out of Milwaukee, WI.
Shotgun is a collective of musicians and artists with one goal in mind, “to be known amongst the greats,” says Hinton. “I’d like for us to be revered in the same light as the Rolling Stones, The Eagles, and BB King. I want to be constantly working and creating the music that people love.”
In alignment with this goal, Shotgun is preparing to debut their first single, Charmaine, on August 12th. “I wrote Charmaine driving home one night from a gig,” says Hinton. “I’d been gone all day and I was ready to get back home to my wife (girlfriend at the time). So I started singing, ‘Charmaine, baby I’m coming home to you.’ By the time I made it home, I had already written the lyrics and music in my mind. All we had to do was record…and here we are now about to release it as our first single!”
Be sure to order your copy of Charmaine on iTunes, Amazon, Google Music or CD Baby on August 12th and stay tuned for the release of Shotgun’s first album!
