Wednesday Wonder Woman: Lillie Young

We all know the story of Cinderella, and many of us have felt like we could relate. Today’s Wednesday Wonder Woman felt that her life story was so similar that she entitled her autobiography “The Purple CINDERELLA”. Meet today’s wonder woman, Lillie Young, a very proud mother, a child of God, author, motivational speaker and event host. The Purple CINDERELLA tells of Young’s years of molestation at the hands of her adult step brothers, some step uncles, some adult step cousins, and other men. She and her sister were also forced to work doing what she calls “slave labor”.

The molestation stopped when Young was between the ages of 12 and 13 upon her dad dying, and afterwards she lived on her own. She admits that was life was a struggle. She had a child at 19, and though she was always smiling, she felt as if she was dying inside.  At the age of 38, while contemplating suicide, Young wrote her book. She said it was part of her healing process.

“Life is beautiful since I have written “The Purple CINDERELLA”. I have helped others get their glass slipper back (their happiness/life) through my book, motivational speaking, prayer, etc,” Young says. She went on to say, “My book has helped so many others that have been raped. There has been a blessing and a healing for everyone that has read my book. There’ are different facets to my journey in my book. On my journey there were different things that I experienced, and that I have healed from. As in my book, “I state GOD take my soul, hold it tight and to never let it go.” That message is needed and is welcomed. I am not a victim; I am a survivor of multiple childhood rapists.”

So how does this woman of strength describe her swagher? “My swagher is beautiful inside and out. The inner beauty is most important. My swagher is my journey. It’s motivational. It’s all about my journey with god, each day walking in prayer,” Young says.

She shared these words of inspiration for our follower, “When you are feeling low Pray. Pray as many times throughout the day as possible. Prayer keeps me balanced. Prayer is the answer…TRUST GOD!”
