Valentine’s Day is one day away and love is in the air. Women who are either single or in a relationship put high hopes on this day for their crush or man of their dreams to sweep them off of their feet. They put on their best outfit, best perfume, and style their hair to a ‘T’! Do you find yourself guilty of this? Well, I’m here to tell you that the “day of love” is nothing if you don’t love yourself first! I know you’re probably like “Whoa, it’s just one day where a girl wants to feel good and look good, and possibly snatch up a man!” You don’t need a man to tell you that you are beautiful or to bring you flowers to show you that you are appreciated, but you can do all of that for yourself.
Spend Valentine’s Day to do something for yourself, and reward yourself for being the fierce and sexy woman you are! Buy yourself some new high heels or a bold lipstick. Take yourself on a shopping spree, listen to music and dance around, send yourself some flowers, and look in the mirror and say something positive about yourself. Make a bucket list for things you want to get done this year and get started on it! One day does not define whether you are wanted or worthy. There are 365 days in the year, and you should use everyday to focus on self-love before you open the door of love to someone else. It can be dangerous to let someone else in your heart when you don’t even handle your own heart the right way. Girl… you are a queen and worth more than all of the rubies and diamonds that are on this Earth, so take the day of love to dig deeper into who you are and what makes you special.
Now I’m not bashing spending a day with your boo or getting a valentine, but don’t put your hope so high on that without celebrating who you are. Even if you just spend an hour to yourself to relax or pamper yourself it is important to take some time to be alone and reward yourself. Every week I make sure that I take one day out of the week to dedicate to myself, and no one can interrupt that day! I spend that day either doing my nails, hair, buying myself something nice, or even going out to eat… ALONE! I love spending time with myself and since I started dedicating a day to myself I began to have love that I can’t explain! It may sound silly, but it is so important to practice self-love. Happy Valentine’s Day ladies!
