Social Diva Spotlight: Kandi Burruss and Kandi Cares

Kandi Cares is a non- profit organization founded by the “Real Housewives of Atlanta” reality TV star and former member of the 90’s R&B group, Xscape, Kandi Burruss.  The organization focuses on the community. Back in August they hosted a back to school supply drive where the organization collected back to school supplies for single mothers and their children and threw a back to a school jam for the children. As the holiday season arrived, the sharing didn’t stop for her and her family! Continuing the gift of giving, for Thanksgiving Kandi Cares hosted a successful turkey and food drive and later a single parents’ giveaway.  Let’s not forget Cocktails for a Cause early November, where with team work, Kandi Cares and Best Homes were able to collect diapers, for homeless and /or single moms. With a host of attendees, Kandi was supported by her husband Todd Tucker, daughter, stepdaughter and of course her management team.

Red carpet correspondent for SwagHer Magazine,  Michael Majesty, attended the holiday coat drive just one week before Christmas, That Kandi Cares team came together with A Touch of Warmth to provide for families and people in need. The event was coordinated by known philanthropist, Chanita Foster, and was nothing short of a major success.

The celebrity host for this event were two of our favorite teen celebrities and friends; Jacob Latimore (Crown World Ent.) and QT Jazz (VH1’s The Family Hustle. It is always a pleasure catching up with those two and witnessing them making fantastic philanthropic strides!

“Thanks to their involvement and support, piles of blankets and coats were donated to deserving families. To my astonishment, the visionary behind this event is no other than the pint sized 11 year old founder of A Touch of Warmth, Aaliyah Rucker. What a beautiful young spirit! I will always give major props to children that are taking the initiative to better their community and lead by example. Other guests in attendance were Riley Burruss, Don Juan, and Vincent Searcy,” Majesty recalls.

Also in December Kandi teamed up with Atlanta Dream and spent the weekend at Atlanta’s children’s hospital and also at Sweet Georgia Juke Joint where they provided food gifts and lots of love.
If this isn’t enough, then I don’t know what is. I can honestly say in my book Kandi Burruss deserves recognition! She didn’t just sponsor and promote, but she was there hands on and giving back.
Amongst the dozens of celebrities in Atlanta, we definitely would like to give a big thank you to Kandi, Kandi Cares and all involved with bringing the community together on her behalf and showing community support.

Representing: Compassion, advocacy, resources, encouragement and support and fighting for the cause in Education, Enrichment and Empowerment. Kandi Cares!
