The Pomade Shop owner, Erma Williams-Nurse, speaks with SwagHer about her hair care line.
What inspired you to start your business?
I started The Pomade Shop due to my love for hair pomades and to dispel the perception of pomade as a heavy, petrochemical-laden agent that weighs down the hair and adds no substantive value. I wanted to showcase the nourishing and inviting side of pomade for the hair. I wanted to show that you can use all-natural pomade to effectively care for your hair.
When was it founded?
It was founded in September of 2011.
What products do you provide?
The Pomade Shop provides all-natural hair pomades, shampoos, and conditioners that can be used on curly, kinky, and wavy hair types. Some customer favorites include our Growth Foundations Peppermint Pomade (good for tight and itchy scalp), Growth Essentials Rosemary Pomade (good for thinning edges and dry scalp), Sweet Indulgence Hair Styler (good for sealing in moisture and styling the hair), and CeraMoist Conditioning Pomade (moisturizer).
What makes your brand or product different?
The focus on pomade makes The Pomade Shop different. There are other hair care lines that offer pomade, but we are one of the few lines with more of a primary focus on pomade.
What future plans do you have for your brand or business?
Winter will be upon us all too soon, so we are thinking of creating a heavy-duty pomade to protect the hair from those single-digit temperature days.
