I called out of work today because I needed some “me” time.
I didn’t wake up until 10:30 because I didn’t go to bed until 2:30. I rose to my husband on my left and my 3 year old daughter on my right. My youngest in the bassinet. My birthday boy (2) calling out for me from his room.
I wanted to gather my thoughts and contemplate my next move. I pictured myself sitting at the table with a couple slices of toast and some hot ginger tea. Instead I fixed Sara a bottle, took Amani to the bathroom, grabbed Thomas out of the crib, and found myself shadowed by Bella. My husband got up and fixed the babies waffles and washed dishes. I washed the babies and got them dressed. Now I sit on the couch blogging still in my shorts and white tee shirt. As I watch my 4 little people play together on the floor and my husband make phone calls I realize this IS my “me” time.
We oftentimes imagine that life should be one way; OUR way, when in reality we are just where we were meant to be. All we can do is push forward. Against the nay sayers, against the negativity, against the obstacles. Believing we can and we WILL.
Just think of how far you have already come to fulfilling your dreams. Think back to all you have been through to conquer your fears. Think about all the people who said you wouldn’t make it THIS far. Yet here you are. Smile about that. Be excited. Be encouraged. Be strong and now you can.
Today I am spending a little “me” time, and I’m glad about it.
