Coach Avery Johnson Visits Baton Rouge

After being asked by the Just Say  Yes Organization, an educational nonprofit, Coach Avery Johnson of the New Jersey Nets came to speak to some of East Baton Rouge’s youth and athletes. On Wednesday, November 9th, Johnson spoke at Belaire High School, Glen Oaks High School, and Scotlandville Magnet High School.

Coach Johnson chose different approaches to speak to each school. While at Scotlandville High, which is where we caught him, the theme was “A Perfect Picture”. Johnson was born in New Orleans, Louisiana and attended Southern University A&M College. It was here that he met his wife, which is why he says Baton Rouge and the Scotlandville area are important to him.

Check out our mini interview with him one day before the lockout ended.
