My writer name is J P Charlie and my artist name J2B. My age is 26 years old. I was born in the U.K. and spent my toddler years in West London from Ladbrook Grove to Hammersmith. I moved to Jamaica with my mother where I went to school there for a number of years then came back to the U.K. to continue my schooling. My high school years, I spent living in South London and from ever since I have always held West and South London close to my heart but not in a territorial way. More to the point of the community spirit especially in areas such as Harlsden and Brixton despite the labels this place is giving at times.
My music influences may be too much to mention so I shall keep it as brief as possible. I grew up listening to my elders playing music from artists such as Dennis Brown, Gregory Issacs, Bob Marley, Burning Spear and many more from that era of reggae music to listening to Curiosity Killed the Cat, Simply Red, Phil Collins, and many more from that era. Then there is the old Motown flavor that I can never get enough of, from Marvin Gaye to Al Green, Ray Charles to Nat King Cole and too much name from this era. (Hip Hop Rap thing) from Doug-ee Fresh to N.W.A from Arrested Development to Big Daddy Kane and all the upto date artist MUSIC IS MY LIFE and My sanity and always has been. Without it I don’t know where I’d be today, so my motto and code is MUSIC 4LIFE.
KEEP IT MOVING the concept, it’s really about self reflection and individual elevation that expresses a life story in a 3 and a half minutes give or take.
I’m originally a reggae and dance-hall artist. I have been writing and spitting since I was 14 years old. I started to rap and sing a few years ago, but with all the things life throws at us its hindered my progress now I’m back again and ready to do this thing, and I feel like I’m more equipped now. I have done a fair bit of work in the past but not as much or on the levels that I would like to be. I have not ever been published apart from when I was involved in a anti-gun campaign, and a track made by myself and a partner i was working with at the time. It did have a short success but mainly locally as it was a track for charity. My style is versatile I’ve worked on funky house, drum n bass, bashment, reggae, rnb , hip hop alternative. It’s all about the energy I get from the track at the time of writing. I also have a couple of upcoming artists that I am writing for at the moment. I have mix-tape material and album material-
reggae , RnB and hip hop. I don’t tend to do gangsta rap mainly just life
from love to hate from struggles to upliftment although the occasional mix tape joints may have an element of passionate indifference. I am always taken by flows and that classic format of RnB and hip hop.
